Hubungan Dukungan Keluarga dan Teman Sebaya dengan Perilaku Merokok pada Usia Remaja di SMPN 2 Kabanjahe Kabupaten Karo Tahun 2023

Abstract

Smoking habits that started in adolescence will result in increased dependence on cigarettes in old age. This is very worrying because the negative impact of smoking is so dangerous, it can cause various diseases. Indonesia is one of the countries declared by the ASEAN Tobacco Control Atlas (SEATCA, 2018) as a country with low regulation of cigarette products. Teenagers and children who should be protected from the dangers of smoking, instead have easy access to smoking. WHO (2019) states that adolescents who smoke at the age of 13-15 years have experienced an increase. In 2014, 18.3% of teenagers smoked cigarettes and in 2019 it increased to 18.8%. In 2019, the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) stated that most students in Indonesia had used tobacco products, as many as 19.2% of students in 2019 smoked and 60.6% were not even prevented from buying tobacco products. Environmental factors such as family and peer support are factors related to adolescent smoking behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between family and peer support with adolescent smoking behavior at SMPN 2 Kabanjahe. This research is a quantitative research with cross sectional research design. The total sample in this study were 84 people. The results of data analysis using the Chi Square test showed p = 0.009 and p = 0.042, which means that there is a relationship between family and peer support and smoking behavior in adolescents at SMPN 2 Kabanjahe.
