    Abstract
Islamic boarding schools are one of the targets in efforts to maintain environmental health. The characteristics of life in pesantren that involve interaction with many individuals require attention to the physical condition of the environment and personal hygiene behavior that can affect the incidence of skin health complaints in the pesantren environment. This study aims to describe the physical condition of the students' rooms, personal hygiene and skin health complaints of students at the MTsS Tahfizh Ulumul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School in Medan City in 2023. This research method is descriptive, with a population of 113 people and a sample of 53 people selected using the stratified random sampling method. The results showed that all physical conditions of the santri rooms that met the health requirements were humidity, 5 out of 6 santri rooms (83.33%) met the health requirements of artificial lighting. 1 of 6 santri rooms (16.67%) did not meet the requirements of artificial lighting. while those that did not meet were ventilation, natural lighting, occupancy density, and temperature, The students' personal hygiene had a good category in hair hygiene (54.7%) and genital area hygiene (41.5%), a moderate category in skin hygiene (56.6%), hand, foot, and nail hygiene (60.4%), clothing hygiene (52.8%), towel hygiene (58.4%), and bed and sheet hygiene (49.1%). 84.9% of students experienced skin health complaints with the most common type of skin health complaint being itchy skin. So, it is recommended that pesantren dormitory managers provide facilities to support the physical condition of the rooms, such as the use of fans, LED lights, and air coolers, and and determine the capacity of the number of students living in one room, for the health department to provide education about maintaining personal hygiene, and for students to be more concerned and pay attention to their personal hygiene.
