    Abstract
This thesis was written to look at single mothers in coping with life and to see the increasing number of divorces which has resulted in many women becoming single mothers. Single mother or often called widow is a term used to refer to a woman who no longer has a husband or is divorced, either divorced or alive. In this case, women will usually be required to play not just one role but two roles at once (dual roles). In this research I used descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. The aim of this research is to find out the lives that informants go through before and after becoming single mothers, as well as to see the conditions of informants in dealing with daily life while being single mothers, overcoming all the problems themselves even though they have overcome many challenges. There are many endeavors that only they know how they feel. The results of the research I conducted were about three women who became single mothers who managed their lives while alone. It turned out that women were very strong and good at managing their time and the responsibilities they held after becoming single mothers. In solving economic problems, children's education patterns and psychology, the informants turned out to be very successful and able to carry out all roles simultaneously, even though they were full of struggle. This includes the conflict in their household relationship which was one of the reasons they finally decided to separate and live their separate lives. Where the first informant became a single mother because her husband died, the second informant was due to a divorce due to a domestic violence case committed by her ex-husband and traumatized her child, and the third informant was divorced because of her ex-husband's obstructive nature and economic situation. lying and not caring about the children or wife, not only that, the ex-husband also doesn't want to try to improve the family's economy. Educate children well and even do the best for children's education. Playing the role of a good mother and even a good father at the same time is one of the interactions that single mothers definitely experience. Until it turns out that women are capable of being the head of the family as well as being a good mother, the existence of equality now makes women survive and be more confident.
