dc.description.abstract | This research is motivated by the phenomenon of flooding that continuously occurs in farmers' rice fields. Floods can affect national economic growth and food security. This research further discusses coordination with the aim of knowing and describing the coordination of the regional government (Irrigation Commission) in efforts to handle floods in Hamlet II, Pematang Cermai Village, Tanjung Beringin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The Irrigation Commission consists of the PUTR Service, Agriculture Service and P3A. The importance of this research is to be able to find out the steps or methods taken by the government to handle floods and optimize irrigation. Apart from that, this research is also useful so that farmers know how to overcome problems caused by flooding in rice fields.
This research uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation and literature study. The informants in this research were the Irrigation Commission (Youth Water Engineering), the PUTR Service (Head of Water Resources Management), the Agriculture Service (Young Expert Agricultural Product Quality Monitor, the Water User Farmers Association (Chair of P3A) and the farmers of Hamlet II, Pematang Cermai Village.
The research results show the following: First, the Irrigation Commission has not run optimally; Second, rice production has increased, but farmer income has decreased; Third, unity of action, communication, division of work and discipline are still not running optimally. Fourth, improvements in agricultural infrastructure and technology are needed. | en_US |
