dc.description.abstractMedan City in Indonesia has a large and dense population. As a result, there is an increase in the number of vehicles that is not proportional to the available road capacity. In particular, provincial roads that are the main route for logistics delivery to various regions in North Sumatra often experience congestion due to high vehicle volumes and many road intersections. One of the roads affected by congestion is the Jl. H.M. Yamin - Jl. Jawa intersection. Therefore, it is planned to build an underpass on the road as a solution to overcome the congestion problem. In planning the construction of the underpass on H.M. Yamin road - Jl. Jawa intersection, it is planned that the retaining wall used is Secant Pile. In Secant Pile planning, reinforcement planning is very important to ensure the strength of the retaining wall. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the strength and safety of the retaining wall constructed with Secant Pile, as well as determine the optimal reinforcement to be used in the construction. The results of the analytical calculation of Secant Pile using the empirical formula obtained a transverse force of 126,9 kN and a bending moment of 575,1 kNm. The results are not much different from the results of the analysis with Midas Software, namely the transverse force of 125,4 kN and bending moment of 482,6 kNm. In the reinforcement calculation, the main reinforcement is planned with a diameter of 22 and a diameter of 12 shear reinforcementen_US
