Analisis Potensi dan Strategi Pengembangan Ternak Domba di Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai

Abstract

One of the districts that has the potential to develop sheep is Serdang Bedagai District. The purpose of this study was to determine the potensial of livestock resources, area and capacity to accomodate sheep as well as alternative strategies that can be used in the development of sheep in Serdang Bedagai District. This research was conducted in Serdang Bedagai Regency in February-April 2023 using the research method, namely stratified sampling in the sub-district in Serdang Bedagai Regency and the purposive sampling method which produced the sub-districts with the largest population, namely Pantai Cermin and Pegajahan District, a moderate population in Serbajadi District and low population, namely Sei Rampah and Kotarih Districts. Sampling aims to interview respondents in seeking information on sheep, analysis of the date carried out is descriptive analysis, LQ, Livestock density, feed concentration index (IKP), carrying capacity of agricultural and plantation waste, carrying capacity index of agricultural and plantation waste, capacity for increasing ruminant livestock (KPPTR), and SWOT analysis. Based on the results, Serdang Bedagai Regency has the potential to develop sheep. There are 8 base areas each for sheep. The carrying capacity of sheep in Serdang Bedagai Regency is 413.342,15 AU for sheep. The right strategy and a priority is the SO strategy.
