Hubungan Intergroup Contact dengan Universal Diverse Orientation pada Organisasi Mahasiswa Universitas Sumatera Utara
Abstract
This research is based on phenomena related to student diversity University of North Sumatra. This study aims to determine the correlation between intergroup contact and Universal Diverse Orientation (UDO) in students who are involved in organizations. This study uses a quantitative method with correlation research type. Data were obtained from 131 member of student organizations. The measuring instrument used are the Contact Quantity Contact Quantity Scale adapted by Islam and Hewstone (1993) and Miville-Guzman Universal-Diverse Scale – Short Form (MGUDS-S) developed by Miville (1999). The results of the research show that there is a relationship between intergroup contact and UDO with the magnitude of the correlation between the two variables being p = 0.854 and the correlation between the two variables is categorized as very strong. The implication of this research is student's participation in organizations can increase awareness of diversity.
