    Abstract
    The scavenger is someone who gledges, searches, scraps found in such places as garbage, streets, inhabitants' homes and final dumps. Scavenging may not be an option but educational limitations, and skill as well as labor may lead some to take part in this type of work. Scavengers are few who scavenge and eke out a living by scavenging, and they use such garbage as pack cigarettes, plastic, cardboard boxes to provide for their living. This research was conducted at the TPA Terjun located ini Paya Pasir Village, Medan Marelan District, Medan City. The purpose of this research is to find out how the socio-economic life of the scavenger families at TPA Terjun. The informants used in this research consisted of the key informants, namely the Head of Paya Pasir Village, the main informants were 5 people scavengers at TPA Terjun, and the additional informants were 3 neighbors in Paya Pasir Village. Data collection was carried out by literature study, observation, interviews, and documentation. The method used was a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. To answer the research problems, Soehandono’s theory of social-economic conditions was used. So it was found that the socio-economic conditions of scavengers had an impact on the lives of scavenger families, seen from Soehandono's theory of socio-economic conditions, including housing conditions, economic activities, food, clothing, and social activities.
