Abstract
The Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) is the government's effort to provide protection services to women and children victims of gender-based violence. Every province and district/city is encouraged to have this unit. The aim of this research is to determine the procedures, roles and services of the Medan City PPA UPT in handling cases of violence against women and children. This research involved 5 informants consisting of 1 key informant, 2 main informants, and 2 additional informants. Data collection techniques use qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach through interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that the role of the Medan City PPA UPT in handling cases of violence against women and children is to ensure that the rights of women and children victims of violence are properly fulfilled. In handling cases of violence against women and children, UPT PPA Medan City has 6 services, including legal assistance, health assistance, psychologist assistance, mediation facilitators, safe house facilitators, and implementation of outreach. Medan City UPT PPA procedures in handling cases of violence against women and children are reporting and complaints, receiving reports, identifying cases, summarizing identification results, and recommendations for further services.
