dc.description.abstract | Diabetes mellitus is a progressive chronic disease characterized by the body's inability to metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins leading to hyperglycemia (high blood glucose levels). Indonesia ranks fifth with a total of 19.47 million people with diabetes mellitus, with a percentage of 10.6% of the total population in Indonesia. Diabetes mellitus can cause a number of disorders that interfere with basic human needs. One of the problems that must exist in people with diabetes mellitus is the risk of instability of blood glucose levels. Blood glucose levels can increase if you don't adopt a healthy lifestyle. Blood sugar levels that continue to increase without proper treatment can cause serious complications. For this reason, it is important to do treatment by providing nursing care. The purpose of this senior practitioner is to describe and apply nursing care to patients with type II diabetes mellitus at Prof. Teaching Hospital Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis. Nursing care was carried out on July 11 2022 – July 21 2023 for the three patients with type II diabetes mellitus by implementing hyperglycemia management, health education and pain management. The results obtained after the implementation of the patient's blood glucose levels decreased compared to before implementation, the level of client knowledge increased compared to before being given education and the pain scale in patients decreased compared to before implementation. It is suggested that patients and their families can continue to increase their knowledge and compliance by adopting a healthy lifestyle through adherence to a healthy sugar diet, exercise, careful health monitoring, and administering the correct and timely medication. | en_US |
