Pengaruh Jurnalisme Warga terhadap Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Informasi Followers dalam Akun Instagram @Medantalk

Abstract

This study is entitled The Impact of Citizen Journalism on Meeting the Information Needs of Followers in @medantalk Instagram Accounts. The research is aimed at finding out the influence of citizen journalism on fulfilling the information needs of followers in the Instagram account @medantalk. The theories used include Mass Communication, Citizen Journalism, New Media, Social Media, Instagram, Information Needs, Theory of Uses and Gratifications. This research uses explanatory quantitative methods. The population in this study is the total followers of @medantalk's Instagram account of 1,279,708 as of January 31, 2023. A sample of 100 people is determined by Slovin formula by purposive sampling. The data collection technique is done by spreading questionnaires online through Google Forms to followers of Instagram accounts @medantalk. The researchers conducted a series of data analysis techniques using SPSS version 26, namely validity test, reliability test, single table analysis, cross table analysis and Spearman rho hypothesis test. Hypothesis testing showed H0 was rejected and Ha accepted, meaning there was influence of citizen journalism on fulfilling the information needs of followers in the @medantalk Instagram account. Then, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.604 which indicates that there is a significant (meaningful enough) relationship between the two variables. In the correlation determinant test it was found that citizen journalism of 36% affected the information needs of followers in the Instagram account @medantalk.
