Pengelolaan Asuhan Keperawatan Klien dengan Diabetes Melitus Tipe II Melalui Perawatan Diri Diabetes di Kelurahan Asam Kumbang
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders with characteristic blood sugar levels exceeding
normal limits (hyperglycemia) due to impaired ability of insulin secretion and production by the
pancreas. Diabetes mellitus is known as the "silent killer" disease. Diabetes self-care behavior is a
key pillar in minimizing the risk of developing microvascular, macrovascular and neuropathy
complications as well as worsening chronic conditions. This study aims to manage nursing care to
diabetes mellitus clients with diabetes self-care interventions. The method used is a case study with
a descriptive single case design. The assessment instrument used is self-care diabetes mellitus based
on king's model. Data collection with a nursing care approach consisting of assessment, diagnosis,
intervention, implementation, and evaluation through interviews, observations, questionnaire
distribution and blood glucose level examination. Nursing care is carried out to control blood sugar
levels and improve clients' abilities about diabetes mellitus and diabetes self-care using educational
media booklets, posters, modules and videos. The results showed that the client's blood sugar levels
decreased from 400 mg / dl to 250 mg / dl, the client's condition was more stable, signs and symptoms
of diabetes were reduced and the client was able to do diabetes self-care management (diabetes self
care) namely dietary and diet compliance, regular physical activity / exercise, checking blood sugar
levels at home, foot care and routine medication therapy.
