dc.description.abstractThe research has been done on manufacturing of polymer concrete which has made from sand, sawdust, waste of palm frond fiber(elaeis) and epoxy resin. Manufacture of sample was made by sieving sand and sawdust using a 100 mesh sieve, mixing the materials with composition of sand and sawdust (50:25)gr, palm frond fiber (25, 31, 37, 43, 49) and epoxy resin (20, 25, 30)gr, then hot pressed with temperature at 90°C for 20 minutes, which is used hot press method. The parameters observed were density, porosity, water absorption, flexural strength, compressive strength, tensile strength and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscop). The results showed that the optimum mixture was as follows : Physical properties include density = 1,28 gr/cm3, porosity = 7,5%, water absorption = 7,03%. Mechanical properties include flexural strength 29,95 MPa, compressive strength 15,91 MPa and tensile strength 8,13 MPa. The results of SEM photographs of the microstructure of polymer concrete porosity is not evenly distributed. This polymer concrete is lighter than conventional concrete.en_US
