Analisis Kadar Logam Besi dan Mangan Dalam Road Dust Resuspension (RDS) dan Pola Persebaran Menggunakan Metode Distribusi Gaussian
Abstract
Transportation is one of the important sectors in fulfilling human activities. However, the transportation sector sometimes poses a problem, namely air pollution by dust particulates derived from vehicle emissions. This study aims to analyze the concentration of metal in road dust resuspension, and produce distribution, as well as estimate the concentration of dust pollutants around the intersection of the Belawan toll gate, Medan City. Metal concentration analysis focused on Fe and Mn metals. Road dust samples were collected using a vacuum cleaner and a simple impinger. Metal concentration measurements using atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), and road dust samples were also characterized using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) with sieve variations of 100 mesh and 200 mesh to determine the elements contained in the sample. Prediction of dust sample concentration and distribution of dust pollutants using the Gaussian dispersion method by taking into account meteorological data obtained from the Medan Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The results showed that the concentration of each Fe and Mn metal using AAS was 202.86 mg/L and 50.33 mg/L. While in characterization using X-Ray Fluorescence, road dust samples contained elements such as Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr, and Zr. For the direction of distribution of dust pollutants around the Belawan toll gate predominantly blows towards the northeast. The concentration of dust pollutants from direct measurements obtained results at point 1 of 28447.1 μg/m³, point 2 of 28449.5 μg/m³, and point 3 of 6096.3 μg/m³. The concentration of dust pollutants from measuring the Gaussian dispersion method obtained results at point 1 of 61.0682 μ/m3; point 2 of 25.1661 μ/m3; and point 3 of 9.0291 μ/m3. This research can be used as a basis for dust pollutant control measures and understanding knowledge about the distribution of dust pollutants to the surrounding community.
