dc.description.abstract | The utilization of wind turbines as alternative energy in Indonesia is relatively low because there are still many industries that depend on the fossil energy, with the fossil energy crisis that can to scarcity, then alternative energy is needed. One of the alternative energy that could be used is wind energy by using wind turbines, wind turbines that are widely used today are wind turbines that are focused on a large scale and generally have a very expensive price. The purpose of this research was to design a vertical type wind turbine and analyze the performance generated by the wind turbine, the type of vertical type wind turbine studied is the Savonius type with the advantage of being able to rotate at wind speeds that match the average wind speed in Indonesia. The method used were carried out with the design stage in the SolidWorks application, simulation in Ansys, making the Arduino circuit and designing the prototype. Results showed the design of the savonius wind turbine with a DC generator is able to produce power withthe highest value of 11 watts at wind speed of 7 m / s and rotation velocity of 26 rpm and the lowest value of 3 watts at a wind speed of 3 m / s with rotation velocity of 8.1 rpm. The Torque produced by the savonius wind turbine were 0.04023 Nm, 0.07298 Nm, 0.08751 Nm at wind speed of 3 m/s, 5 m/s and 7 m/s respectively. The Cp value of the Savonius wind turbine based on wind speed is 0.6790, 0.3200, 0.1522 at wind speed of 3 m/s, 5 m/s and 7 m/s respectively. | en_US |
