Elderly is a natural process that occurs in a person because he has entered the final stage of the life phase of more than 60 years, where physical changes occur that make the elderly susceptible to disease. One of the most common diseases in the elderly is hypertension. Hypertension is a condition of systolic blood pressure> 140mmHg and diastolic blood pressure> 90mmHg. Nursing care is carried out to prevent and reduce future mortality. One of the factors causing uncontrolled blood pressure values in hypertension is the lack of rest and sleep patterns carried out by people with hypertension. Adequate and regular rest is an effective way to help lower blood pressure in people with hypertension. This senior practicum aims to be able to perform hypertension nursing care in the elderly. Participants in this case study study involved three elderly clients with nursing problems with sleep pattern disturbances with a medical diagnosis of hypertension. The characteristics of the three participants were the same sex, namely women, between the ages of 62-67 years, blood pressure> 140/90mmHg, complaints of difficulty sleeping and headaches and neck pain with a moderate scale (4-6). After carrying out nursing actions on client 1, 3 nursing diagnoses were obtained with the criteria of the problem being resolved, namely: acute pain, sleep pattern disturbance and knowledge deficit. Whereas on client 2, 3 nursing diagnoses were obtained with the criteria of the problem being resolved, namely: disturbed sleep patterns, acute pain and the risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion. Meanwhile, for client 3, 3 nursing diagnoses were obtained with the criteria of the problem being resolved, namely: disturbed sleep patterns, acute pain and noncompliance. The results of providing implementation and education can help overcome sleep pattern disturbances in the elderly. Furthermore, the results of deep breathing relaxation measures can reduce pain levels in the elderly with hypertension. | en_US |
