Post partum or the puerperium is the period that begins after the placenta comes out and ends when the uterine devices return to their original state (before pregnancy). The postpartum period lasts for about 6 weeks. As many as 90% of spontaneous normal births experience perineal tears either with an episiotomy or without an episiotomy at the time of delivery of the fetus, the incidence of perineal tears in the world is 50% in Asia and in Indonesia perineal injuries are experienced by 75% of women giving birth vaginally. So there are 2 methods used in the treatment of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers, namely the sitz bath method and the Maternity Cool Gel Pad (MCGP) method. The sitz bath method is a method that is carried out by soaking the body parts from the hips down to the bottom using warm water, while the MCGP method is a method by means of a cloth in the form of a bandage in which a cool gel pad is placed which will be applied to the perineal wound. The results obtained from the sitz bath and MCGP methods, namely postpartum mothers with perineal wounds in the Pantai Cermin Beach Health Center Working Area, the results show 3 of the postpartum mothers with perineal wounds prefer the Maternity Cool Gel Pad (MCGP) method for perineal wound care because postpartum mothers feel more comfortable using the Maternity Cool Gel Pad (MCGP) method. There are differences in perineal wounds before and after therapy related to the healing process, a sense of security and comfort, and decreased pain.
