Tuberculosis is a disease caused by bacteria (mycobacterium tuberculosis) that
attacks the lungs. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that spreads through the
air, coughing, sneezing or spitting pushes TB germs into the air. The failure of TB
sufferers in TB treatment can be caused by many factors, such as drugs, disease,
and the sufferer himself. Drug factors consist of inadequate drug guidelines,
insufficient drug doses, irregular medication intake, inappropriate treatment
duration, and drug resistance. The purpose of this senior practicum is to apply
nursing theories and concepts in managing and providing nursing care to clients
with tuberculosis. Nursing care was carried out on 10 – 22 July 2023 for three
clients with tuberculosis by providing health education about medication
adherence. The results obtained after the health education was carried out, the
three clients responded very well and were enthusiastic about hearing the health
education given. Clients understand the consequences of not taking medication
regularly and the importance of medication adherence. It is recommended to the
client and also the family to keep an eye on the client while the treatment is taking
place.
