Population Adaptation in Preparing For and Dealing With Flood on The Dr Mansur Road, Medan Sunggal Sub-District
Abstract
This research aims to determine the forms of adaptation of the population in facing flood disasters on Jalan Dr Mansur, Medan Sunggal District. This type of research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques and using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation directly go into the field to examine more of the essence of this research.Keywords: Flooding, Rainfall, Resident Habits, Resident Adaptation.
The research results show that the forms of adaptation of the population to face flood disasters on Jalan Dr Mansur, Medan Sunggal District are active adaptation and passive adaptation. Based on the results of this research, active adaptation can be seen from the activities of residents around Jalan Dr Mansur, Medan Sunggal District before the arrival of the flood disaster. Meanwhile, passive adaptation, based on research results, is an effort made by residents in the form of efforts to adapt to the norms and ethical values of the environment as well as the surrounding community's understanding of the flood phenomenon gained from experience.
