    Abstract
    The production of isopropyl myristate through the esterification reaction of myristic acid with, isopropyl alcohol has been carried oi t using the lipase en.zyme as a biocatalyst with microwave radiation. The JJarameters exa mined in this study were the molar ratio o'f m yri stic acid to isopropyl alcohol with variatons of·1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5 and the ifl:fluence o_f the weight o_f the lipase enzyme with variations of 1%, 5% , 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 40%. T/1,e conversion of isopropyl niyristate obtained was determined by alkalimetric titration and confirmed by using an FT-IR SfJec tro photometer. The highest conversion of iso propyl myristate for the molar ratio parameter of myristic acid to isopropyl alcohol of· 94.57 + 0.24% was obtained at reaction conditions of 1:2, microwave power 20%, catalyst weight 20%, and reaction tinze 1 min,itte, while .for the weigh.t of enzyme lipase para,neter maxi,-num conversion of 94.68 + 1.33% was obtained under reaction conditions of 20% micro1>va ve power , 5% catalyst 1>vei ght, 1 mi,-zute reaction time, and 1:2 molar ratio. The.fo rm a ti on , of 1PM is characterized by an, absorption band in the area of 1692.21 cm-1, proving the existence of· stretching vibrations of the carbonyl group (C=O) from the ester and is sitpported by stretching vibrations of -C-0-C- ester at wave numbers 1300 - 1000 cm-1.
