dc.description.abstract | Isolation and ident(fication of phenolic compounds have been carried out from the fruit of the tanjung plant (Mimusops elengi L.) through the maceration extraction stage with methanol solvent. The concentrated methanol extract was re-extracted using ethyl acetate repeatedly until U was negative for 5% FeCh The ethyl acetate extract was concentrated and redissolved with methanol then extracted with n-hexane until the n-hexane layer was clear. The methanol layer is then evaporated until all the methanol has evaporated. The concentrated methanol extract was then analyzed by TLC, then separated by column chromatography with silica geL as the stationaty phase with chloroform: methanol (90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60: 40) ''Iv as th e mobile phase. The pure compound obtained was a yellowish brown amorphous solid, mass= 7.6 mg with a value of f= 0,54 using benzene eluent: acetone 60:40 % Based on UV-Visible spectrophotometer analysis with methanol solvent, it sho1,vs a wavelength (Amm) of 278 nm in band I and 205 in band II. The FT-IR spectrum shows the presence of -OH stretching, C-H stretching, C=O carboxylic acid, C=C aromatic, C-H bending and C-O groups, which respectively have wave numbers o/3429.43, 2922.16, 1624.06, 1442.75. 1381.03, 1273.02 (cn'Z-1) . The 1H-NMR spectrum shows the
presence ofH-2 and H-6 protons on the aromatic ring, and the presence o.fmethoxy protons. Based on the data obtained, the isolated compound is a phenolic compound in the phenolic acid group | en_US |
