dc.description.abstractIntroduction. Breast Cancer is the highest incidence of cancer in the world. Breast Cancer can be diagnosed by histopathologic examination. Overweight women have a higher risk of developing breast cancer. Objective. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) with the description of histopathological subtypes of breast cancer at Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan. Methods. This study is an analytic study using a cross sectional design with a sample of 100 people obtained from medical record data by random sampling. The data obtained were then adjusted to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and grouped based on predetermined classifications. Results. The most IMT group was normal (44%) and histopathological subtype Invasive Carcinoma of no Special Type (67%). The results of the Chi-Square test between BMI and histopathological subtype obtained p=0.021. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between Body Mass Index and histopathological subtype of breast cancer.en_US
