dc.description.abstract | The phenolic compound had been I solated fro,n the stein bark of the saga (Aden1.u1thera pavonine L.). Iso lation was carried out by meceration extraction method with methanol and 111ethanol extract was re-extracted with ethyl acetate repeatedly untul negative to 5% FeCI J. Ethyl acetate extract was concentrated and reconstituted with ,nethanol and partitioned with n-hexane until the n-hexane layer was clear. The methanol extract was analyzed by thin layer chron1atography and separated by column chomatography with a statio11ary phase of silica gel and a rnnbil e phase of ch/orofonn: ,nethano/ (90:JO; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40) •; . Fractio11s 36 -
105 was purified by preparatif thin layer chronwtogra phy using chlorofonn : rnethanol (80: 20 ) •;.,e /uen t to produce a greenish yellow a11u;rphous solid of 7,9 rng at Rf value of0,62 using chlorofom1:methanol (80:20 ) ½ eluent. Based on the a,wlysis of the UV -Visible spectroscopy, it was a wavelength (A 111ax ) of 276 nn1, the FT-IR spectru,11 shows the presence of OH, C=C, C=O carboxy/ic acid, C-H, and C-O groups. The proton Nucleus Nla gnetic Resonance Spectrum (1H-NMR ) shows the presence of H-2, H-6, H-7 , H-8 protons and 111ethox y protons. Based on the data analysis and interpreuuion, the isolated compound is a phenolic cornpound of the phenylpropanoid group derived hydroxycin11a1nic acid. | en_US |
