Analisis Strategi Pengembangan Usaha Ternak Sapi Potong sebagai Usaha Keluarga di Desa Purba Ganda Kecamatan Pematang Bandar Kabupaten Simalungun

Abstract

Livestock business has long been a source of livelihood for people in rural areas. This is also true in Purba Ganda Village, Pematang Bandar Sub-district, Simalungun Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the internal and external factors of beef cattle farming in Purba Ganda Village and then analyze business development strategies based on internal and external factors. This research uses quantitative research methods with data acquisition through surveys and observations. Total respondents amounted to 32 farmers. The results showed that the internal factors with the highest scores owned by farmers were long breeding experience, and traditional maintenance management with scores of 0.421 and 0.092 respectively, while the external factors with the highest scores were meeting the needs of religious holidays, and the availability of quality seeds with scores of 0.376 and 0.084 respectively. The SWOT Quadrant results place the position of beef cattle farming in Purba Ganda Village in quadrant I, so the strategy that can be used is an aggressive or S-O strategy.
