    Abstract
    Background. Domestic violence (DV) is a variety of abusive behaviors, including sexual violence, physical assault, mental abuse. In Indonesia, from 2004 to 2021, there were 544,452 cases of DV. Aim. This study aims to determine the description of cases of DV at RSUD Dr. R. M. Djoelham Binjai from June 2020 to July 2023. Methods. This research is an observational descriptive study with a cross sectional research design. The sample of this study was the Visum et Repertum of living DV victims at the Forensic Departement of RSUD Dr. R. M. Djoelham Binjai in June 2020-July 2023. Results. During the period June 2020 to July 2023, the most common victims of DV were women, as many as 98.9% and 1.1% man. The most common age group was the 20-60 age group, which was 90.3%, the 11-19 age group by 6.5%, and the 60 and over age group by 3.2%. Based on the year, the highest percentage of DV cases was in 2020, namely 48.4%, 17.2% in 2021, 19.4% in 2022, and 15.1% in 2023. All perpetrators of DV are relatives of the victim, with a percentage of 100%. The most common type of violence was physical violence, 97.8%, followed by psychological violence 1.1% and 1.1% no violence found. Conclusion. With the majority of female victims aged 20-60 years, the most common type of DV examined was physical violence, with the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator being family. The incidence of violence since 2021 has increased and decreased insignificantly.
