dc.description.abstract | Background. Epilepsy is a disease that disrupts the brain, characterised by
recurrent seizures that occur twice or more without provocation for more than 24
hours. Based on data obtained from the World Health Organization, there are
approximately 50 million people with epilepsy in the world. Meanwhile, in
Indonesia, there is no valid data on epilepsy patients. Epilepsy and its causes are
reported to have an influence on quality of life which includes several aspects,
namely cognitive, social, physical, and emotional. QOLCE-55 is one of the
questionnaires that can be used to measure quality of life, especially for children
with epilepsy. QOLCE-55 consists of 55 questions covering five domains, cognitive
function, physical function, behavioural function, and emotional
function.Objective. To determine the quality of life of children with epilepsy in
Medan.Aim. To know how quality of life of pediatric epilepsy in MedanMethods.
Data for this study were collected using the QOLCE-55 questionnaire given to
parents/carers of children with epilepsy. Then the data will be analysed using
univariate analysis with descriptive analysis to see the data description.Results. In
this study, 57 respondents were obtained. The results of this study showed that
68.4% of children had a good quality of life. Based on function, cognitive,
emotional and social functions showed that more children had good function. While
physical functions, more children with impaired physical functions than good
ones.Conclusion. The results of the QOLCE-55 assessment in paediatric patients
with epilepsy in Medan showed that more children had a good quality of life than
