Management of Nursing Care in Gout Risk Patients Arthritis Through Health Education in Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency
Abstract
Gout or uric acid is a condition that can cause symptoms of unbearable pain, swelling, and a feeling of heat in the joints. Gout is closely related to purine metabolism disorders which trigger an increase in uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia), that is, if the uric acid level in the blood is more than 7.5 mg/dl. Arthritis gout is a disease that greatly interferes with the patient's activities. Sufferers of gout arthritis will feel pain, the joints hurt when moved, swelling, fingers feel stiff when moved, thus making them unable to work and move. In severe cases, a person can experience strange lumps that appear all over the body. Then the lump erupted and created a large, very painful wound. Seeing the effects caused by uric acid, it is very clear that this disease is not an ordinary disease. This disease can be classified into a type of dangerous disease. Improper handling can cause greater harm, so pharmacological and non-pharmacological management is needed. The aim of this senior practicum is to apply the concepts/theories of nursing care through health education to patients at risk of suffering from gout arthritis to increase knowledge about gout arthritis. Based on the problems above, the authors are interested in managing nursing care for patients at risk of gout arthritis through health education starting from assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documenting it in the form of a nursing process. The management of nursing care that can be given is health education regarding gout arthritis, and health checks including blood pressure checks and uric acid checks. The results obtained after the evaluation was an increase in knowledge and decreased uric acid levels or within the normal range.
