Hubungan Usia Gestasi dengan Status Glikemik Neonatus di Unit Neonatologi RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan Tahun 2023
Abstract
Background. Blood glucose levels are formed from carbohydrates in food and stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles. If glucose levels increase abnormally in the blood, this condition is known as hyperglycemia. On the other hand, if there is an abnormal decrease in glucose levels in the blood, this condition is called hypoglycemia. Newborn blood glucose levels are generally normal, but depend on several factors from the mother during pregnancy. One of the factors that influences a newborn's blood sugar levels is gestational age. Objective. The aim of this study was to determine and assess the relationship between gestational age and the glycemic status of neonates at H. Adam Malik Hospital. Method. This research is an analytical observational study using a cross sectional approach, using secondary data obtained from neonate medical records in the neonatology unit at Haji Adam Malik Hospital. A sampling of 60 samples was obtained which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results. Based on glycemic status, the majority of neonates had normal glycemic status, namely 52 neonates (86.7%). Meanwhile, there were 3 neonates (5%) with hypoglycemic glycemic status and 5 neonates (8.3%) with hyperglycemic glycemic status. Conclusion. Based on the results of data collection, 60 neonate samples were obtained in the neonatology unit and in accordance with the research criteria.
