dc.description.abstract | Briket adalah salah satu cara yang digunakan untuk mengkonversi sumber energi biomassa yang
diolah dan dimanfaatkan sehingga bentuknya menjadi lebih teratur dan mempunyai nilai kalor
yang tinggi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memanfaatkan, menentukan variasi campuran
terbaik serta menganalisis kandungan NO2 dari pengaruh variasi campuran terbaik antara
bottom ash, tempurung kelapa, dan abu vulkanik Gunung Sinabung sebagai bahan bakar
alternatif yang bermanfaat dan ekonomis yang akan dijadikan briket. Metode penelitian yang
dilakukan adalah mengolah campuran bottom ash di PLTU Pangkalan Susu Kabupaten Langkat
jenis sub bituminous yang dikombinasi dengan tempurung kelapa melalui proses karbonisasi,
abu vulkanik Gunung Sinabung serta menggunakan tepung kanji sebagai bahan perekat. Setelah
itu dilakukan analisis laboratorium dan ditentukan masing-masing variasi komposisi bottom ash,
tempurung kelapa dan abu vulkanik Gunung Sinabung terdiri dari 50:45:5% ; 55:40:5% ;
60:35:5% ; 70:25:5% ; 80:15:5%. Pengujian yang dilakukan dari briket campuran bottom ash
dan biomassa ini adalah uji kadar air, kadar abu, kadar volatile matter, fixed carbon, nilai kalor,
kuat tekan dan uji emisi NO2. Briket campuran terbaik dan memenuhi SNI 01-6235-2000
Tentang Briket Arang Kayu, Peraturan Menteri ESDM No. 47 Tahun 2006 Tentang Pedoman
pembuatan dan Pemanfaatan Briket Batubara dan Bahan Bakar Padat Berbasis Batubara adalah
variasi III komposisi 60% Tempurung Kelapa, 35% bottom ash dan 5% abu vulkanik dengan
nilai kadar air 0,48%, kadar abu 8,40%, volatile matter 1,86%, fixed carbon 89,25%, nilai kalor
5.055 kal/gr, kuat tekan 32,808 kg/cm2. Berdasarkam skala likert variasi II merupakan briket
variasi terbaik dengan komposisi 55% Tempurung Kelapa, 40% bottom ash dan 5% abu
vulkanik dengan nilai kadar air 0,57%, kadar abu 10,17%, volatile matter 2,17%, fixed carbon

dc.description.abstract | Briquette is one of the optionsfor converting biomass energy sources that are processed and
utilized so that its shape becomes more regular and has a high heating value. The objectives of
this research are to utilize and determine the best mix variations and analyze NO2 content from
the effect of the best mix variations between bottom ash, coconut shell, and volcanic ash of
Mount Sinabung as a useful and economical alternative fuel to be used as briquettes. The
research method was conducted by processing sub-bituminous bottom ash mixture in
PangkalanSusu Steam Power Plant in Langkat District which was combined with coconut shell
through carbonization process using volcanic ash of Mount Sinabung and starch as adhesive
material. Moreover, laboratory analysis was carried out and each variation of bottom ash
composition, coconut shell and volcanic ash of Mount Sinabungwas determined in which they
consisted of 50: 45: 5%; 55: 40: 5%; 60: 35: 5%; 70: 25: 5%; 80: 15: 5%. The tests carried out
on the bottom ash and biomass mixture briquettes were the tests of water content, ash content,
volatile matter content, fixed carbon, heating value, compressive strength and NO2 emission.
The best mixed briquettes that meet SNI 01-6235-2000 concerning Wood Charcoal Briquettes in
the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 47 of 2006 concerning
Guidelines for the manufacture and utilization of coal briquettes and coal-based solid fuels is
variation III composition of 60% coconut shell, 35% bottom ash and 5% volcanic ash with a
moisture content of 0.48%, ash content 8.40%, volatile matter 1.86%, fixed carbon 89.25%,
heating value 5.055 Cal/gr, compressive strength 32.808 kg/cm2. Based on the Likert scale,
variation II is the best variation briquette with a composition of 55% Coconut Shell, 40%
bottom ash and 5% volcanic ash containing water content of 0.57%, ash content 10.17%,
volatile matter 2.17%, fixed carbon 85.08%, heating value 4.649 Cal/gr, compressive strength
