Background. Bacteremia is a condition where there are bacteria in the blood and can be proven through blood culture. The threat of antibiotic resistance is still a problem today. Objective. The purpose of this research is to find out the description profile and pattern of antibiotic sensitivity to bacteria that cause bacteremia at Haji Adam Malik Medan General Hospital in January to June 2023. Methods. This research is a descriptive retrospective design using secondary data from medical records of bacteremia patients at Haji Adam Malik Medan General Hospital. Results. Bacteremia patients were predominantly male (51.4%), aged 46-65 years (39.4%), had comorbidities in the form of kidney and urinary diseases (20.3%) and came from regular ward rooms (53.8%). The causative bacteria is gram-negative bacteria (54.2%) but the majority of bacteria is Staphylococcus aureus (13.7%), antibiotics that have high sensitivity to Staphylococcus aureus are nitrofurantoin (100%), tigecycline (100%) and vancomycin (100%) while flomoxef (100%) and cefetamet (100%) have high resistance. Conclusion. This study concluded that bacteremia patients are predominantly male, 45-65 years old with comorbidities of kidney and urinary diseases and came from regular wards. The most common causative bacteria are gram-negative bacteria but the most common bacterial species is Staphylococcus aureus which has high sensitivity to nitrofurantoin, tigecycline and vancomycin but flomoxef and cefetamet have a high level of resistance.en_US
