Management of Nursing Care with Therapy Benson Relaxation for Hypertension Patients in Sipispis
Abstract
Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a condition where there is an abnormal increase in blood pressure (systolic blood pressure reaches 140 mmHg or more and diastolic pressure reaches 90 mmHg) which takes place continuously and has several blood pressure checks. The management of hypertension focuses on reducing blood pressure back to normal by less than 140 mmHg systolic and 90mmHg diastolic. Management of hypertension is divided into two, namely pharmacological management and non- pharmacological management. Pharmacological management can be done by administering antihypertensive drugs. One of the non-pharmacological management that can be done is the Benson relaxation technique. Benson relaxation is relaxation that combines relaxation response techniques and individual belief systems/Jaith factors (focused on certain expressions in the form of God's names or words that have a calming meaning for the patient himself which is repeated repeatedly in a rhythm accompanied by an attitude of submission). The purpose of this senior practicum is to apply nursing theories and concepts in managing nursing care with the Benson relaxation technique in hypertensive patients as well as health education about hypertension. The results obtained after the intervention were that the patient's blood pressure decreased compared to before the intervention, the patient understood how to control blood pressure and the patient had started a healthy lifestyle by getting used to
checking blood pressure independently.
