dc.description.abstract | Obesity is an excessive accumulation of fat due to a long-term imbalance between
energy intake and energy expenditure. Obesity is expected to continue to increase
among adolescents, this is supported by changes in unhealthy lifestyles such as
consuming energy-dense foods without doing physical activity. The psychological
aspect of one of the physical changes during puberty is that adolescents become
very concerned about the body compared to other aspects, one of which is obesity.
The occurrence of physical changes from obesity in adolescents can cause
adolescents to be dissatisfied with themselves and feel inferior. Adolescents who
feel they are overweight tend to experience situational low self-esteem. The
methodology in this paper is a case study on case management of nursing care for
clients with situational low self-esteem in obese patients in Medan Sunggal
District. The implementation was carried out for two days from July 20, 2023 -
July 21, 2023 with the intervention of setting a low-calorie diet, increasing
physical activity and increasing the client's self-esteem. The evaluation results
show that the client is willing to follow a low-calorie diet, perform physical
activity by exercising, and the client's self-esteem increases. | en_US |
