dc.description.abstractThis research attempts to find out whether the Role-play technique has significant effect on students’ speaking achievement at SMAN Unggul Tapaktuan or not. The thesis was conducted by analyzing the result of pre-test and post-test and being treated using Role-play technique. To select the representative sample, a purposive sampling method was used. This research decided class XI-B consists of 31 students from SMAN Unggul Tapaktuan as sample because it is based on the results of the development report carried out by the school and the chosen class is more concern than the other classes especially in English. The research used the quantitative method with descriptive statistical analysis. The data obtained shows the result of tcount is 11.749 with a significant 0.000 and the value of t on the ttable is 1.701. From the calculation, tcount is bigger than ttable (11.749 > 1.701) and the result of Sig. (2- tailed) < 0.05. Hence, it can be stated that there is any significant difference between students’ speaking achievement before and after the implementation of Role-play and this technique affects students’ speaking achievement.en_US
