dc.description.abstract | The slaughterhouses in Panyabungan District still carry out traditional slaughtering and there are only two slaughterhouses that operate well to provide meat to consumers. This research aims to analyze the level of knowledge of officers at the Panyabungan District Slaughterhouse (RPH) and analyze the application of animal welfare aspects in the livestock slaughtering process at the Panyabungan District Slaughterhouse. This research was carried out at Mr. Zuljapri's slaughterhouse located on Jalan Sibaroar Lintas Barat, Panyabungan District and at Mr. Yakub Nasution's slaughterhouse located in Adian Jior Village, Panyabungan District, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra. This research was carried out from May to July 2023. The method used in this research was a descriptive qualitative research method.
The results of the research show that the knowledge of livestock traders and controllers regarding aspects of animal welfare as a whole is in the very good category, while the slaughterer's knowledge is not yet in the very good category because one slaughterer's knowledge of slaughtering techniques does not meet the requirements for halal slaughtering. In the application of animal welfare aspects in several processes there are still activities that do not follow animal welfare aspect standards. The percentage of implementation from the process of receiving livestock to the slaughtering process at the slaughterhouse located on Jalan Lintas Barat is higher compared to the slaughterhouse located in Adian Jior Village. | en_US |
