Hedonistic Behaviour in The Protagonist from The Film “Ingrid Goes West”

Abstract

In this research, the researcher explains on the protagonist, Ingrid Thorburn on her hedonistic behaviour and the final impacts of her life. The method used in this research is qualitative research and reference source are from journals and internet resource. In collecting the data for this thesis, the researcher uses the film Ingrid Goes West as the main data of research then highlight several events that supported this thesis. The findings of this research are this following: the reasons of Ingrid’s obsessions towards Taylor and the hedonistic lifestyle. In the film, Ingrid does have a mental problem in obsessive behaviour and one of her targets was Taylor Slone, an influencer. With that, Ingrid tries everything to get closer to Taylor even doing the same things as Taylor do in a hedonistic lifestyle where Ingrid constantly following and buying the things that Taylor buys and does. With time move forwards, Ingrid has more motivation in following Taylor, where Ingrid will constantly be following Taylor in making herself famous and Ingrid’s desire in social media attention. But in the end the impacts of Ingrid’s decision on following Taylor’s lifestyle did not end well where she lost everything and even get in debts.
