Management of Nursing Care in Hypertensive Patients with Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy in the Room Mahoni- Meranti Teaching Hospital Prof. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis University of North Sumatra
Abstract
Hypertension is high blood pressure above normal values, namely systolic pressure of around 120 mmHg and diastolic pressure of 80 mmHg which occurs without complaints, so that the patient does not know that he has hypertension. Hypertension is one of the diseases that is often found in the comumanity. In general, hypertension treatment is divided into two, namely pharmacological therapy (drug therapy) and non pharmacological therapy. One of the non- pharmacological therapies that can be done in patients with hypertension is progressive muscle relaxation therapy which is a way of relaxation by combining deep breathing exercises and a series of movements with a series of contractions and relaxation of certain muscles. The purpose of this senior practice is to apply the theory and concept of nursing care in hypertensive patients with progressive muscle relaxation therapy in the mahogany-meranti room of Prof. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis Teaching Hospital, University of North Sumatra. Nursing care management is carried out in three patients with hypertension. The results of the assessment obtained the main complaint in the three patients was pain in the head. The mursing diagnosis taken is acute pain associated with physiological dilating agents. Nursing actions are carried out 3x24 hours with results and objectives in accordance with nursing planning. Progressive muscle relaxation therapy is given as a nursing action given to patients. The evaluation obtained by the patient cun perform progressive muscle relaxation actions independently
