dc.description.abstract | Kampung Bandar is a dense and irregular area with the highest population
density in the city of Pekanbaru, which is located on the Siak River and was the
starting point for the formation of Pekanbaru City. This situation influences the
determination of building orientation which shapes the character of the area. In
urban design science, building orientation is an important aspect of architectural
design that can improve the comfort, health, sustainability and beauty of a building.
This research examines the orientation of buildings in Kampung Bandar and the
factors that influence it.
The method is descriptive quantitative by conducting a field survey. To
simplify the analysis process, segments are divided based on road accessibility
conditions that follow the contour of the land, namely the transition zone between
the water's edge, the transition zone and the land zone. Observation of the area by
examining 3 variables, namely building accessibility, building function and
building materials.
The resulting data is in the form of an existing map of the research location
which is redrawn based on building function, building materials, road conditions
and building orientation.
The results of this research found that the residential function is located on
the inside of each segment, while the commercial function is on the outside. The
orientation of buildings in Bandar villages faces building accessibility such as the
surrounding road network. The factors behind building orientation are building
accessibility and building function. Meanwhile, building materials have no effect
on determining the orientation of buildings in Kampung Bandar. These factors
result from regional growth and community adaptation to the available land | en_US |
