| dc.description.abstract | This research aims to determine the level of kinship, separation time, and age prediction between Sibolga Coastal Malay Language, Toba Language, and Mandailing Language. This research uses lexicostatistics techniques with interview and observation methods. The approach used in this research is a qualitative and quantitative approach. The instruments used were questionnaires (list of questions), recording equipment, and writing instruments. The research was carried out in three different locations, namely the first in Lopian, Kec. Badiri, Kab. Central Tapanuli, the second location is on Jln. Church, Ex. Week 2, District. Batang Toru, Kab. South Tapanuli, and the last one is in Sibuhuan, District. Barumun, Kab. Padang Lawas. This study used 200 Swadesh vocabulary words in data collection. The first comparison was between Sibolga Coastal Malay and Toba Language where the results showed that there were 46 related words with a percentage of 23% which indirectly BMPS and BT belonged to the stock category. This language split between 3,671 – 3,102 years ago. Then compare Sibolga Coastal Malay with Mandailing with 85 related words with a percentage of 38% belonging to the family category. These two languages separated 2,405 – 2,055 years ago. Finally, between Toba language and Mandailing language, there are 115 related words with a percentage of 58% which belong to the family category and separated from 1,312 – 1,138 years ago. The language that has the closest level of relationship is Toba language and Mandailing language. Meanwhile, languages that are distantly related are Sibolga Coastal Malay and Toba Language. | en_US |
