Abstract

This research aims to explain the intrinsic elements, as well as a comparison between Hikayat Musang Berjanggut and Musang Berjanggut Movie. This research uses a data collection method in the nature of a literature study which is then connected to reading, listening and note-taking techniques. The data in this research are words and sentences in Hikayat Musang Berjanggut and the Musang Berjanggut Movie. The data sources in this research are the text of the story from Hikayat Musang Berjanggut and visual and audiovisual stories from Musang Berjanggut Movie. The theory used in this research is Structural theory including intrinsic elements; theme, plot, setting, characterization and narrative elements; purpose, space, time, story behavior, conflict and Comparative Literature theory. The results of the analysis of Hikayat Musang Berjanggut intrinsic elements in have the theme of strategies for getting and maintaining desires in the household. The plot in this saga is a forward plot. The characters and characterizations in this saga have 9 characters. The story of Hikayat Musang Berjanggut has 11 settings, 4 time settings including morning, afternoon, evening and night, as well as 5 atmospheric settings. Musang Berjanggut Movie has 11 rooms, 3 times including morning, afternoon and evening. With story behavior of 11 characters. And conflicts that run continuously or progressively. Based on the results of the analysis of the Hikayat Musang Berjanggut and the Musang Berjanggut Movie, it shows that there are changes to the story, additions, deletions of storylines, changes and deletions of settings, and replacements and deletions of characters between the saga and the film.
