    Abstract
Background. Overactive bladder (OAB) is a clinical condition characterized by urgency, whether with urgency incontinence or not, followed by frequency and nocturia. Several studies confirm that body mass index and gender are risk factors. Purpose. This study aimed to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BM/) and gender to Overactive Bladder in FK USU students. Method. This study used an analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach conducted in September 2023 at FK USU Medan. The sampling was by simple random sampling of 214 people by distributing the Overactive Bladder Symptoms Score (OABSS) questionnaire. The data was processed with a Chi-square test using the SPSS program with a meaning level of p <0, 05. Results and Discussion. It was obtained from 214 students, and as many as 57,9% did not experience symptoms of OAB. The majority of OAB symptoms were male students (45,8%) and BM/ >27 kglm2 (93,5%). Chi-square analysis showed a relationship between body mass index and OAB (p = 0,000) and no relationship of gender to OAB (p = 0,268). Conclusion. This study showed a relationship of body mass index to OAB but no relationship of gender to OAB.
