dc.description.abstract | Background: Osteoarthritis is the most common inflammatory joint disease in several
locations such as shoulder, genu, hip, and fingers. The most common symptoms in patients
with genu OA are pain in the knee, crepitation during movement, and limitations in mobility,
this will have a negative impact and worsen the quality of life in patients with genu OA.
Objective: To determine the quality of life and find out what factors affect the quality of life in
patients with genu OA at Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan. Methods: This study is an
observational study using a Cross-Sectional Study design. The analysis was carried out with
the Chi-Square test, while to see the greatest influence between the independent variables was
tested with multivariate logistic regression analysis. The number of samples obtained is 42
samples. Results: The majority of respondents were female. The mean score of quality of life
is 4.296 which means that the quality of life tends to be good. The age factor and employment
status have a significant relationship with quality of life in physical aspects and symptoms,
with the p-values obtained being 0.013 and 0.004 in the age factor, and 0.000 and 0.001 in the
occupation status factor. Gender and BMI did not significantly correlate with quality of life
with a p-value>0.05. Occupation status was more influential on quality of life than age, with
a p-value of 0.008. Conclusion: The results showed a significant relationship between age and
occupation status with quality of life in physical and symptom aspects. Gender and BMI factors
do not affect the quality of life of genu OA patients. Between age and occupation, it was found
that occupation status had more effect on quality of life. | en_US |
