Aiming at patient sajety is an effort that murses should carry out before providing nursing care for patients. Patient safety corsists of six safety goals, one of which is identification process. Patient identification process is the first step of the six patient safety goals which must be done correctly to avoid any error or nursing error. The objective of this research was to discover the effects of patient identification on nursing error at the Regional Government General Hospital Dr. RM. Djoelhan Binjai This research employed associative type with cross sectional design to discover correlation between independent and dependent variables The samples consisted of 120 people selected by total sampling technique.f The instrument used to collect the data was questionnaires. The results demonstrated that when patient identification was not conducted to 51 people (96.1%), the prevalence of nursing error was high. Meanwhile, when patient identification was conducted by nurses to 1 person (1.4%) out of 68 people, the prevalence of mersing error was high Based on the research results, it was concluded that patient identification had significant effect -0.741 and had negative pattern, indicating that decreasing the implementation of patient identification would increase prevalence of nursing error and vice versa; when patient identification increased, the prevalence of mesing error would decrease.
