Colorectal cancer is cancer that is in the large intestine or rectum. This type of cancer ranks third in the world and the second most common cause of death today Colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy face several physiological and psychological problems which ultimately worsen their quality of life. Meanwhile, high self-efficacy is more likely to participate in effective psychological strategies to deal with the symptoms and side effects of chemotherapy. This research aims to identify effect of education on self-efficacy and quality of life of colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Murni Teguh Hospital. Medan. This is a quantitative research type using a quasi- experimental design with nonequivalent control group preposttest only with a total sample of 56 people, using the GSE General Self-Efficacy) questionnaire instrument and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-C30 (EORTC QLQ-C30). The data are analyzed by paired sample t-test and Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results show that there is an effect of education on self-efficacy of colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with a p-value <0.05 and there is an effect of education on quality of life of colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with a p-value <0.05. So it can be concluded that educational interventions for colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy have a positive effect on increasing self-efficacy and quality of life.
