Tingkat Pengetahuan Orang Tua Siswa SD Harapan 1 Medan terhadap Manfaat Sirkumsisi bagi Kesehatan

Abstract

Background. Circumcision is a throwing action from one part or entire preputium for a certain purpose. Circumcision is performed for health, cultural, or religious reasons. Circumcision is supposed to reduce problems caused by certain diseases, such as reduce the incidence of urinary tract infections, reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, and others. However, there are still many parents who performed circumcision on their children because it is only based on religious orders without knowing the health benefits of circumcision. Objective. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of parents of Harapan 1 Elementary School about circumcision for health. Method. This research was a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. This research has 60 people who had accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were obtained using a questionnaire distributed to parents of Harapan 1 Elementary School and analyzed using the SPSS program. Result. The results showed that the average parents had a good level of knowledge about circumcision, which is 43 people (71,7%), parents have good knowledge of the benefits of circumcision, women have better knowledge than men, and parents with higher education have better knowledge. Conclusion. The level of knowledge of parents in Harapan 1 Elementary School of circumcision as whole is good.
