dc.description.abstract | This research discusses the character's personality and the inner conflicts of the characters in the novel عرس الزين /'ursu az-zaini/ "The Wedding Of Zein" by Tayeb Saleh. The aim of this research is to describe the characters' personalities and the inner conflicts that occur in the characters in the novel عرس الزين /'ursu az-zaini/ "The Wedding Of Zein" by Tayeb Saleh through a literary psychology approach. This research is a library research study. The approach used is a literary psychology approach using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory in Minderop and the inner conflict found in Nurgiyantoro and Minderop. Data was collected using the listening method and note-taking technique and analyzed using interactive data analysis methods proposed by Miles Huberman in Sugiyono. The data for this research are story fragments in the form of Arabic words in the form of narrative and dialogue between characters. The results of the research showed that 12 characters were obtained from a total of 37 characters in the novel to be studied. The main characters Zein and Ni'mah are dominated by the id, Saif ad-Din and imam are dominated by the id and superego, Aminah is dominated by the id and ego, Badawi is dominated by the ego and superego, and Hanin, Mahjub, the school principal, Haji Ibrahim, Sa'diyah, Zein's mother has balanced elements of id, ego and superego. The inner conflicts that occur in the characters are anxiety, anger, disappointment and regret. The conclusion obtained from this research is that all characters fulfill three personality elements, namely id, ego and superego and the most dominant elements are id and superego. Then it was discovered that the inner conflict experienced by several characters, namely Zein, Aminah, the school principal, and Saif ad-Din was due to the dominance of their id which was not properly restrained by the ego. The conflict is the anxiety experienced by Zein, the anger of Aminah's character, the principal's disappointment, and Saif Ad-Din's regret. | en_US |
