The Influence of Self-Motivation and Treatment Compliance on The Quality of Life of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients in Hospitals. Prof. Dr. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis University of North Sumatra
Abstract
Self-motivation and treatment adherence are important role in controlling type 2 diabetes and influence patients' quality of life. This study aims to investigate the impact of self-motivation and compliance on the quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients, using a retrospective quantitative research method with a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 97 respondents. Self-motivation was measured using the Treatment Self-Regulation Questionnaire (TSRQ), while compliance was measured using The Diabetes Activities Questionnaire (TDAQ), and patient quality of life was assessed using Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL). The statistical test used in this research is the multiple linear regression test. The results of the analysis show that self-motivation does not have a significance influence on quality of life (ρ= 0.776), while compliance has a significance effect (ρ= 0.000). Multivariate analysis shows that both self-motivation and compliance influence quality of life (ρ= 0.000). In this context, medication adherence can improve the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, but self-motivation only has a positive impact when followed by adherence.
