Tingkat Pengetahuan Orang Tua tentang Pengobatan Dermatitis Atopi pada Anak

Abstract

Background. Atopic dermatitis or atopic eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which can cause discoloration and itchy rashes. It usually starts in childhood and continues into adulthood with the condition that causes dry skin, eczema lesions, and lichenification. The role of parents is very important in the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children. The success of atopic dermatitis treatment in children depends on the knowledge and attitudes of parents towards children who suffer from atopic dermatitis. The aim of this study is to determine level of parental knowledge regarding treatment and side effects of medication. Additionally, the study aims to explore the age, gender and prevalence of atopic dermatitis in children at the Sentosa Baru Health Center. Method. The design of this study was a descriptive cross sectional with a sample of 60 respondents at the Sentosa Baru Health Center. Data was collected through an interview with parents using structured questionnaire. Result. The level of parental knowledge regarding the treatment of children affected by atopic dermatitis at the Sentosa Baru Health Center is good (55,0%). Conclusion. It can be concluded that parental knowledge regarding the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children is good.
