This research reviews the comparison between Kyoukaishiki marriages in Japan and Batak Toba marriages. The purpose is to describe the comparison of wedding rite between Kyoukaishiki marriages and Toba Batak marriages and also explain the similarities and differences between Kyoukaishiki marriages and Batak Toba marriages. The data that used in this research are videos of Kyoukaishiki wedding ceremonies, videos of Batak Toba wedding ceremonies and also several literature regarding Kyoukaishiki weddings and Batak Toba weddings. The research method used is a descriptive method to describe objects accurately and systematically. Data collection was carried out by literature study, namely reading literature related to the problem topic, and watched videos of Kyoukaishiki wedding ceremonies and Bata Toba wedding ceremonies which were accessed via internet. Then, the researcher made a transcript of the video to research the procedures, similarities, differences and local wisdom in Kyoukaishiki weddings and Batak Toba weddings. The results of this research indicate that Kyoukaishiki is a Japanese wedding that is performed ecclesiastically. The similarities in Kyoukaishiki and Toba Batak marriages can be seen from the entrance procession, sermon, vows, exchange of rings and prayers of blessing. The differences between the two can be seen in the language used, votum, offerings, choirs, kisses, blessing methods, felicitation and photo sessions.
