Feminist Stylistic Analysis of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Tv Show “Fleabag”

Abstract

The research is a qualitative research. This study aims to analyze the use of stylistics in describing women in a text. This study uses feminist stylistics approach in which this case focuses on the gender-specific of women. The data of this study is in the form of words, phrases or sentences, and discourses that indicate gender-specific of women that are taken from the TV Show Fleabag (2016-2019) by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The application feminist stylistic theory by Sara Mills showed that even from the point of view from a female character, women are often described by their body parts and how the fragmentation of the female body is prevalent in our society. This research helps the readers to reduce errors in understanding gender-specific coding in the form of words, phrases or sentences, and discourses
