dc.description.abstract | Introduction. The Inflammatory process has an important role in heart
failure. The inflammatory process will activate platelets and reduce the
quantity of lymphocytes so that the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR)
can predict heart failure outcome. One of the assessments that can be
used to assess the severity of heart failure is the GWTG–HF scoring
system. Objective. To know the correlation of heart failure severity with
Platelet-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) values. Method. The study is
analytical with a cross-sectional method. Data was taken from medical
records of heart failure patients hospitalized at RSUP. Haji Adam Malik
Medan January 2022 – July 2023. Results. The average age of heart
failure patients was 55.90 ± 13.87 years. Men (70.9%) were more
predominant than women (29.1%). The most common risk factor is
hypertension (68.6%). The average of GWTG – HF score was 37.76 ±
6.72. The average PLR value for heart failure patients was 170.70 ±
112.80. Spearman correlation test for the severity of heart failure based
on GWTG – HF score with PLR values showing p-value, < 0.05, and
Correlation Coefficient (r) values of 0.249. Conclusion. There is a weak
positive correlation between the severity of heart failure and the PLR
